Kathleen Schofield, Executive Director

Kathleen Schofield, Executive Director

Kathleen Schofield works to assure equitable access to STEM2 learning across the northeast Florida region. As a liaison between the corporate community and the school systems, she brings the pulse of the needs for a 21st Century workforce as she collaborates with school districts and universities. She has successfully executed the 21st Century Northeast Florida Workforce Development program, a state appropriation, bringing access to experiences with cutting edge technologies including robotics, coding, drones and augmented reality to over 75,000 students. She worked with district leadership teams to develop and infuse innovative approaches to STEM instruction, aligned to standards, into the school day. Further, she has increased access to STEM learning experiences in the after-school setting.

Frank Robinson, Program Director, After School

Throughout his quarter-century career at NASA, Robinson has held multiple positions – some at the same time, such as when he was Chief of the Risk Management Office and the on-site Director for the NASA Assurance Technology Center, the predecessor to the new NASA Safety Center. He has also been Project Manager for the Thermal Energy Storage Reflight Experiment 2, which was launched on the Endeavor Shuttle in January 1996. His engineering team designed, developed and tested hardware and software to provide data for understanding the long duration microgravity behavior of thermal energy storage lithium-floride salts that undergo repeated melting and freezing cycles.

Celeste Sciandra, Program Director

The Program Director for the Northeast Florida STEM2 Hub. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, with an emphasis in math. During her 26 year career in education she has served as a classroom teacher and as a district math specialist in the 4th largest district in the nation.

Celeste is a facilitator for Code.org and a nationally certified INTEL Math trainer. As an INTEL Trainer she has facilitated professional development leading to extraordinary student learning gains. She has first hand experience with the implementation and impact of this program being proposed.
